Jets defensive end Carl Lawson out for season with ruptured Achilles

GREEN BAY, Wis. — Jets rising star defensive end Carl Lawson left the team’s joint practice with the Packers on Thursday with a left leg injury.

The team later announced the worst-case scenario. Lawson suffered a ruptured Achilles and will miss the season.

During the red zone 11-on-11 period, Lawson rushed off the edge and ended up on the ground. He couldn’t put weight on his left leg.

A cart was called to take Lawson off the field.

It was a sad moment for the Jets and Lawson, who was primed for a breakout year as he was dominating training camp.
