Jets DE Henry Anderson fined for late hit on Bills QB Josh Allen

The NFL didn’t exactly throw Henry Anderson out of the league like Lindsey Hauschka wanted, but The Shield has disciplined the Jets defensive end for a late hit on Bills QB Josh Allen.

The NFL fined Anderson $10,527 for unnecessary roughness, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. The Week 1 play saw Anderson go for Allen’s legs long after the quarterback released the ball.

The play also drew the ire of Lindsey Hauschka, wife of Bills kicker Stephen Hauschka. She took issue with a similarly dirty play Anderson committed against her husband last season and was watching Anderson carefully when the Jets and Bills squared off last Sunday.

Dirty play has become a popular topic of conversation with the Jets this week. Lindsey Hauschka kicked it off with her tweets. Then Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr. called out Jets DC Gregg Williams for teaching players to hurt opponents. That led to a tense press conference in which Williams seemed to have conveniently forgotten about his role in the Saints’ BountyGate scandal.

With talks of cheap shots, coaching ethics and now a fine all part of the Jets’ week, expect the officials to keep a watchful eye on Gang Green during their Monday night matchup with the Browns.
