Jets DC Gregg Williams mad that Jamal Adams got to work before him

Defensive coordinator Gregg Williams is usually one of the first people in the Jets’ building, but not on Friday.

Safety Jamal Adams beat Williams to One Jets Drive on Friday, getting prepared for Sunday’s home opener against the Bills. While it seems like such a small thing to most people, Williams was not a happy camper when he saw Adams in the building before him.

“First thing out of his mouth today was bragging that he got in the office before me,” Williams told reporters. “And that pissed me off. But he did. That’s the fun part of it as we all compete on those kinds of things. He was here doing all this extra stuff before anyone got in.”

On Friday, Williams described himself as a “competition-aholic” and clearly, he didn’t just mean football games or practices. He just doesn’t like to lose at anything, no matter the stakes. But that’s what you want to see out of a coach with the hope that it rubs off on the players. They should hate losing more than Williams does.

As for Adams, he just keeps proving how much he cares about the team and his job. Adams must’ve had to get up early in order to beat Williams to the office and not every football player wants to do that. But Adams isn’t your average football player and, in a way, is exactly like his defensive coordinator.
