Jets claim Quadree Henderson off waivers from Giants

The New York Giants unexpectedly waived wide receiver/return specialist Quadree Henderson earlier this week, but it didn’t take him long to find a new home.

In fact, Henderson doesn’t even have to move but across the hall.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that Henderson has been claimed off of waivers and awarded to the Giants’ in-state rivals, the New York Jets.

Henderson, who initially signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers as an undrafted rookie free agent following the 2018 NFL Draft, was an All-American in 2016, leading the country with 1,166 total return yards. He was also named Second Team All-ACC in 2017 when he led the Panthers with 1,204 all-purpose yards.

The Giants signed Henderson at the start of Week 5 last season after struggling with a series of return men.

Before landing on season-ending injured reserve (IR) with a shoulder injury, Henderson averaged 7.6 yard per punt return and 22.4 per kick return over five games.
