Jets claim K/P Kaare Vedvik off waivers

The memories.

About three weeks after the Vikings traded a fifth-round pick to the Ravens for kicker/punter Kaare Vedvik, they released him.

It didn’t take long for Vedvik to find new work, though. On Sunday, the Jets claimed Vedvik.

The trade doesn’t look great for the Vikings, but it’s worth noting that there was interest from others in Vedvik, and this proves it.

There were rumors the Vikings would be interested in putting Vedvik on the practice squad. He was solid for the Ravens over the course of one-and-a-half preseasons before the Vikings traded for him. With Baltimore, he was 12-for-13 on field goals in exhibition play. With Minnesota, however, he was just 1-for-4 in two weeks, while Dan Bailey was 3-for-3.

Knowing the Vikings’ luck, Vedvik will turn out to be an All-Pro kicker.

After going 1-for-4 on field goals with the Vikings last season, Daniel Carlson was 16-for-17 after being signed by the Raiders.

The curse lives on.
