Jets claim former Bengals DE, place Quincy Enunwa on IR

Hours after it was learned that the Jets would be without WR Quincy Enunwa for the remainder of the season, the team went ahead and used his roster spot to add to its defensive line depth.

The Jets claimed former Bengals DE Jordan Willis on Wednesday. Willis will take Enunwa’s spot on the roster after a season-ending neck injury landed the wideout on injured reserve.

As for the depth chart, Willis can make up for the absence of Nathan Shepherd, who is facing a six-game suspension for PEDs. Willis, a third-year pro, was a third-round pick of the Bengals’ in 2017. He played in 32 games for Cincinnati and started two. He recorded two sacks, seven QB hits and 45 tackles.

Willis, a product of Kansas State, made the Bengals’ roster to start the season but was inactive Week 1. He was then waived on Sept. 10.

Now he joins the Jets, where he has the chance to serve as an end of the rotation depth piece.
