Jets claim ex-Dolphins QB Luke Falk off waivers

The Jets have added another quarterback to the roster.

According to ESPN’s Field Yates, Luke Falk was claimed by the Jets off waivers from the Miami Dolphins. He will reunite with his old head coach, Adam Gase.

Falk was a sixth-round pick by the Tennessee Titans in the 2018 NFL draft out of Washington State. At Washington State, Falk played in 42 games and threw for 14,481 yards to go along with 119 touchdowns and 39 interceptions. He was First-team All-Pac 12 in 2015 and Second-Team All-Pac 12 in 2016.

As a pro, Falk has yet to play in a regular season game. He played in the preseason with the Titans but was cut before the start of the season. The Dolphins picked him up a day after he was cut, but he landed on injured reserve a month later with a wrist injury. Miami released him on Wednesday.

The Jets now have five quarterbacks on the roster: Sam Darnold, Trevor Siemian, Davis Webb, Brandon Silvers and Falk. More likely than not, the Jets will cut this down to two on the active roster and one on the practice squad before the start of the 2019 season.
