Jets claim CB Maurice Canady off waivers from Ravens

With Trumaine Johnson out for the remainder of the season, the Jets added some depth to the cornerback room.

The Jets claimed cornerback Maurice Canady off waivers from the Baltimore Ravens. To make room for him, Rontez Milez was placed on injured reserve with neck and hip injuries.

Canady was a sixth-round pick by the Ravens in 2016 out of Virginia. He played in four games in 2016 before landing on injured reserve with a hamstring injury. He then missed the first half of the 2018 season with a knee injury before playing the second half of the season. Canady only played in seven games in 2018 due to a thigh injury that he suffered in September. This season Canady has played in five games. The Ravens released Canady on Nov. 5.

In 55 career games, Canady has recorded 55 combined tackles, four pass defenses, one interception and one forced fumble. His arrival gives the Jets five active cornerbacks; he joins Darryl Roberts, Nate Hairston, Brian Poole and Arthur Maulet.
