Jets claim CB Alex Brown, waive WR Quadree Henderson

Joe Douglas continued his hunt for cornerback depth on Monday, claiming Alex Brown on waivers from the Philadelphia Eagles. To make room for the team’s newest defensive back, New York waived running wide receiver Quadree Henderson as a corresponding move.

An undrafted free agent out of South Carolina State, the Jets are Brown’s third team in a matter of months. After a productive collegiate career in which he recorded 90 tackles, 26 pass defenses and seven interceptions, Brown signed with the San Francisco 49ers in May. After a short stint in the Bay Area, he joined the Eagles in July.

Like Brown’s time with Philadelphia, Henderson’s tenure with the Jets was short-lived. The 5-foot-8 tailback signed with New York in April after spending last season across the street with the Giants. With Gang Green’s crosstown rival, Henderson appeared in five games, returning five kicks for 112 yards and five punts for 68 yards.
