Jets’ Avery Williamson set to miss season with torn ACL

The New York Jets will be without their leading tackler from last season for the entirety of 2019, as linebacker Avery Williamson suffered a torn ACL in Thursday’s preseason game, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports.

Rapoport shared on his Twitter Friday that the former Kentucky Wildcat had an MRI Friday and that the results confirmed the injury is season-ending.

Williamson recorded 120 tackles last season with 3 sacks and 2 forced fumbles. The 6’1″ inside linebacker signed with the Jets last season on a free-agent contract after being drafted by and spending four seasons with the Tennessee Titans.
