Jets announce 2019 training camp schedule

In a little over a month, the Jets kick off final preparations for the 2019 season with the beginning of training camp.

Training camp is a time where fans get to catch an early glimpse of how their team is shaping up. It’s also crucial for the construction of a team, as roster spots will be decided and starting spots will be earned throughout the course of the camp.

On Monday, New York announced its training camp schedule, which features four open practices for fans to observe and the annual Green and White scrimmage at High Point Solutions Stadium on the campus of Rutgers University. The four open practices are one more than the Jets hosted in 2018.

Notably missing from Gang Green’s training camp slate is a joint practice with an opposing team. The Jets spent a week practicing with the Washington Redskins last offseason, but Adam Gase has elected to keep his team in Florham Park throughout the preseason.

New York will not venture onto Long Island at any point during training camp, either. The Jets have not practiced at SUNY Cortland since the Rex Ryan era and are unlikely to return there anytime soon.

With so many newcomers on both sides of the ball and a whole new coaching staff, training camp will be crucial for New York’s chances at contending this upcoming season. Once July 27 rolls around, the pads will go on and the Jets will be back in business until the winter.
