The Jets agreed to terms with Terrelle Pryor on Thursday evening, according to a source, creating more competition in a crowded field at wide receiver.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
Pryor, 28, played nine games for Washington in 2017 before undergoing ankle surgery. He told reporters he suffered the injury in Week 2.
Pryor, who played quarterback at Ohio State, had a breakout season in 2016 with the Browns. He caught 77 passes for 1,007 yards and four touchdowns. After that season, he turned down a four-year deal from the Browns and signed a one-year, $6-million contract with the Redskins.
Pryor's health issues prevented him from having a strong enough season to warrant a long-term contract, so he again is on a prove-it type of contract with the Jets, a team looking for upgrades at wide receiver.
The Jets have Robby Anderson, Jermaine Kearse and Quincy Enunwa as the top three receivers. ArDarius Stewart and Chad Hansen, a pair of mid-round draft picks in 2017, also are on the roster.
Pryor's signing might push the Jets to release their highest-paid receiver, Kearse, who is scheduled to make a base salary of $5 million in 2018. If Kearse is released, it would save $5 million against the cap.
