Jets agree on three-year deal with Jamison Crowder

It appears Gang Green is set up to bolster their wide receiving corps on the first day of “legal tampering” in the NFL.

Initially reported by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the New York Jets and former Washington wide receiver Jamison Crowder are nearing a deal on a contract.

A former fourth-round selection by Washington out of Duke University, Crowder will not turn 26 until June. The wideout was limited to just nine games in D.C. last fall due to an ankle injury. While healthy, Crowder hauled in 29-of-49 targets for 388 yards and two touchdowns.

Over his four-year career, the North Carolina native has appeared in 56 of 64 potential games, accumulating 221 receptions for 2,628 receiving yards and 15 total touchdowns (14 receiving, one on a punt return).

Crowder will likely fill now-free agent Jermaine Kearse’s role in the slot serving as a valuable weapon for Sam Darnold alongside the likes of fellow receivers Robby Anderson and Quincy Enunwa, as well as tight end Chris Herndon.

UPDATE (4:37 p.m. ET): NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo is reporting that the Jets and Crowder have agreed upon a three-year, $28.5 million contract. The soon-to-be 26-year-old will earn $17 million in guarantees.
