Jetro Willems out for the rest of the season as Newcastle United consider ending loan deal

Newcastle United's Dutch star Jetro Willems has been ruled out for the rest of the season - according to reports in Holland.

The left-wing-back twisted his knee in the home game against Chelsea at the weekend and is believed to have suffered cruciate damage.

Whether Newcastle end his loan deal with Eintracht Frankfurt and look again at his future at another stage remains to be seen.

But after tearing ligaments suggestions in his homeland are that he could be out for six to nine months.

It was an injury that prompted Steve Bruce to reveal the club were already looking at alternative transfer targets at left-back on Saturday night, with Paul Dummett also out for the foreseeable future.

Bruce said: "It looks an horrendous injury for Jetro, which is a big blow to us. It doesn't look great with Paul Dummett.

"Obviously with what's looking like two serious injuries in that position in particular, then we might have to visit something, yes."
