Jetro Willems drops big hint about his Newcastle United future - and how happy he is on Tyneside

Jetro Willems has revealed it will be a "nice" moment when he finds out whether his move to Newcastle United becomes permanent - but admits he is happy on Tyneside.

The 25-year-old is on loan from Eintracht Frankfurt and has enjoyed a steady season so far in the Premier League.

Willems was linked with moves to Manchester City and Manchester United earlier in his career.

When asked about his next move,  Willems told the Chronicle: "I feel the same - I'll keep going.

"I heard some things that the club have already agreed with Frankfurt.

"I haven't spoken to them.

"We will see, but it will be nice.

"I don't know if people think I am doing my job well but I am feeling good."

Willems revealed that he is enjoying life in Newcastle and has settled well since making the switch from the Bundesliga.

Former PSV Eindhoven man Willems reflected: "I told everybody at the beginning, it's a warm city.

"Everybody is into their football and Newcastle United.

"I have been around the city a few times but I usually stay at home and rest.

"It's very different to Frankfurt.

"Frankfurt is the banking city of Europe and is quite busy.

"But I didn't stay around the city centre, I don't like to do that.

"I like to be with my family.

"Every city has its threats but I am quite OK here."

Whether Newcastle can get a deal done earlier remains to be seen and United may feel they're in the box seat to get Willems tied up at the end of the season.

Willems added: "Everybody wants to start the year as a fresh start."
