Jetro Willems believes that Newcastle United can still take plenty of heart out of their performance at Liverpool.
The Dutchman had stunned the European champions with a fantastic opener before the Reds hit back.
But Willems felt that United handed Liverpool their first half opportunities.
He said: "It's disappointing because we had two mistakes in the game and they led to two goals. If you give Liverpool a chance they will take it.
"In the first 20 we were really good, we were searching for the space, passing well, looking calm.
“They put pressure on us and we let it change us.”
Newcastle now face Brighton at home next weekend and Willems said: “We have played some quite tough games but we are not doing terrible.
“We need to keep going and keep believing.
“That is what is important.”
