Cornish comedian Jethro, real name was Geoffrey Rowe, is being laid to rest today.
The funnyman sadly died on December 14, at the age of 74, following a battle with Covid and fans of the star gathered to pay tribute to him ahead of a public funeral service.
A procession began at Jethro’s Club in Lewdown, Exeter - which closed in 2012 but where the star remained living - and then passed Lifton before continuing on to Truro.
The funeral service took place at Truro Cathedral in Cornwall and was conducted by the Reverend Canon Alan Bashforth and Reverend Tim Hodge.

As Jethro's coffin arrived at the Cathedral in a Toyota 4 x 4 vehicle the crowds erupted into cheers and clapped their hands to celebrate the man.
Also attached to the car was a black and white Saint Piran's Flag - the official flag of Jethro's beloved Cornwall.
His loved ones followed behind the car before unloading the wicker casket into the Cathedral.
Jim Reeves' hit song Welcome To My World was played as the coffin, covered in yellow flowers, was carried inside before the service began.

A eulogy was read out on behalf of Jethro’s family, and speakers included his long-time agent John Miles and stand-up comic Jim Davidson.
Due to the Cathedral's capacity becoming full, speakers were erected outside in order to allow the service to be heard by the hoards of fans gathered to pay their respects.

There will be no formal wake due to the pandemic and the family have requested donations for Children’s Hospice South West in lieu of flowers.
The service was live-streamed on YouTube allowing fans from far and wide to say goodbye to the joker.
Many tuned in online to watch the funeral and several fans took to the comments to share their sadness at the loss of Jethro.

One penned: "cornish legend....brilliant comedian... I shall carry on laughing at his jokes, of which there are many! RIP Jethro."
A second added: "rest in peace, you were loved by many, Cornwall has lost another legend."
Another echoed: "Great loss of a Cornish legend. RIP Jethro and thank you for being a cultural icon and giving us all so much fun and laughter."

More added: "You brought laughter and joy to so many. Shine bright Jethro, your joyful comedy will live on forever" and "Absolutely a great comic and a great man."
After the service, a private burial will be attended by his close family.
Jethro's family - his life partner Jennie, sons Jesse and Lanyon, stepdaughter Sarah, daughter-in-law Stacey and his grandchildren - shared their requests ahead of the funeral on social media via the Jethro Facebook page.

The message read: "Jethro’s Final Goodbye. We would like to give the opportunity for as many people as possible to be able to say a final “Goodbye” to Jethro next Monday 3rd January 2022.
"Everyone is most welcome to stand along the route to watch Jethro pass as we take him on his final journey to his beloved Cornwall.
"Starting from the car park of Jethro’s Club in Lewdown (EX20 4DS) at 10am, Jethro will then pass through Lifton at 10.10am and then continue on to Truro.

"Once in Truro we will start the procession at 11.30am at the War Memorial and travel through Boscawen Street, on into King Street and then make our way to Truro Cathedral where the Funeral Service will commence at 12.00 noon. There will be speakers outside the cathedral relaying the service for those of you who are unable to get a seat inside.
"After the Public Funeral Service we will be having a small Private Burial and we ask you all to kindly respect our privacy and allow us to say our final “Goodbyes” on our own.

"Sadly due to COVID there will be no formal wake, we ask you all to go and remember Jethro in your own unique way.
"NO FLOWERS please, but donations will be greatly accepted and will go to the Children’s Hospice South West. A collection box will be outside the cathedral from 11am until 1.30pm on the day. We hope to see as many people as possible as we take Jethro home to his final resting place in Cornwall."

Fans were devastated last month when a spokesperson took to Jethro's Facebook page to announce his passing.
"It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the passing of the well known and popular Cornish comedian Jethro," the message began.
"Tragically Jethro passed away on 14th December 2021 after contracting COVID-19.

"Jethro leaves behind his life partner Jennie, sons Jesse and Lanyon, stepdaughter Sarah, daughter-in-law Stacey and of course his much-loved grandchildren.
"We ask that you respect our privacy at this very sad time and give us all time to grieve.

"We will continue to support each other in the knowledge that our lives will never be the same without him."
Jethro was born in St Buryan in west Cornwall and was a Cornishman through and through.
At the start of 2021, the star - who sold four million DVDs - announced he was ducking out of the limelight and retiring after 50 years.

He announced in February: "I think it's time to hang up my mic.
"It's been a hard decision but my memory has made it easier. A big thank you to everyone that has come to see me over 50 years."
