JetBlue announces its cutting 11 routes to capitalize on market gap left by Spirit Airlines

  • JetBlue announced plans to eliminate 11 "underperforming" routes this summer to reallocate resources and expand its focus on flights to Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
  • This strategic shift aims to capitalize on the market gap created by Spirit Airlines ' recent cessation of all operations, allowing JetBlue to meet increased customer demand in South Florida.
  • The cuts will result in JetBlue ceasing all operations from New Hampshire's Manchester-Boston Regional Airport, and also impact several routes from Hartford, Connecticut; Providence, Rhode Island; and Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey.
  • Affected routes include flights from Manchester to Orlando, Fort Myers, and Fort Lauderdale; Hartford to Tampa; and multiple international and domestic routes from Newark, among others.
  • JetBlue acknowledges the decision is "disappointing" for some travelers but states it is necessary to support growth in Fort Lauderdale, with impacted customers offered full refunds or alternative flight options.
