JETBLUE'S inaugural flight to Boston, its second destination from Edinburgh Airport, has been launched.
The airline will be operating from Edinburgh from Friday until October 25, flying daily between Scotland’s capital and one of the USA’s most well-known cities on an A321neo.
It comes after the airline extended its Edinburgh to New York JFK service from May 9 to October 25 following the success of the route’s launch earlier last year.
The route has added to Edinburgh Airport's connections to North America, with seven airlines flying to twelve destinations across the USA and Canada this summer.
Gordon Dewar, chief executive of Edinburgh Airport, said: “It’s fantastic to be able to offer even more connectivity with the USA with the launch of JetBlue’s Boston route. This follows the successful extension of their JFK route and demonstrates the strong demand for transatlantic travel from Scotland.
"Those connections to the USA and Canada are in high demand from both inbound and outbound passengers, which shows the high interest people in Scotland have for travel, as well as the continued interest in Edinburgh and Scotland from our North American guests.
“We are delighted to see the launch of this newest route and look forward to a successful partnership with JetBlue.”

“Scotland has quickly become a standout destination for JetBlue customers, and with our award-winning service and everyday low fares, we’re excited to make it even easier for travellers from the US to discover all that Scotland has to offer—and for Scots to explore more of the US, Latin America and the Caribbean.”
Jim Fairlie, minister for connectivity who attended the launch, said: “I welcome the launch of JetBlue’s new service between Edinburgh and Boston, further enhancing Scotland’s direct US connectivity. This new JetBlue service will help grow the economic benefits of tourism as well as strengthen important links for business.
“I am pleased that JetBlue have started a second route to Scotland so quickly after their New York JFK service launched just last year. This clearly demonstrates confidence in the Scottish market and provides even greater options for passengers connecting to other markets in the US through JetBlue’s network from Boston.
“I wish Edinburgh Airport and JetBlue every success with this new service, which I am sure will be popular with travellers in both Scotland and the US.”
Denise Hill, head of business development and intermediary marketing, said: “The launch of JetBlue’s new Boston service is a fantastic addition to Scotland’s international connectivity. The number of American visitors coming to Scotland has grown back dramatically over recent years.
"It’s exciting to see airlines responding to this opportunity. In building upon its existing JFK New York service to Edinburgh, JetBlue’s new Boston service contributes to the greatest ever number of seats flying inbound from the US to Scotland this summer.
“American travellers to Scotland tend to stay longer and spend more, with luxury travellers enjoying Scotland as a premium destination which also offers engaging, immersive experiences showcasing Scotland’s people, heritage, and culture. JetBlue’s Mynt class service will be welcomed by US travel agents catering to this market.”
