Jet2 have restarted holidays to Turkey after the country was removed from the government’s red travel list.

The company there was huge demand for holidays to the popular vacation hotspot and bookings were up 1,000 per cent.

Flights and holidays to Antalya and Dalaman resumed on Thursday from Belfast International, Birmingham, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds Bradford, London Stansted, Manchester, and Newcastle Airports.

Jet2 will also offer new routes from Bristol Airport from Friday.

The traffic light system is to be replaced from October 4 by a single, reduced, “red list” of destinations.

Travellers arriving in England from red list countries will have to quarantine in a Government-supervised hotel.

People who are fully vaccinated will no longer need a pre-departure test before returning from non-red list destinations, and from the end of October they will be able to replace the day two PCR test with a cheaper lateral flow test.

Eight countries, including Turkey, Pakistan and the Maldives, were removed from the red list on Wednesday.

Travellers from Egypt, Sri Lanka, Oman, Bangladesh and Kenya will also no longer be required to hotel quarantine from that date.

Turkey is currently open to Britons regardless of vaccination status. Travellers need to fill in a form 72 hours before travel and show proof of a negative PCR test taken 72 hours before arriving in Turkey.

Jet2 are offering flights to Turkey from £43pp and holiday packages from £543pp for October half term.
