Jet2 passenger hauled off flight at Scots airport after leaving air hostess in tears

A foulmouthed air rage yob was hauled off a flight at a Scots airport - triggering a round of applause from furious passengers.

Eyewitness claimed that a male passenger started shouting abuse at a stewardess in mid air on the flight from Bulgaria to Edinburgh on Saturday.

A fellow passenger said the man – whose abuse left the stewardess in tears – was then taken off by police after they landed.

The eyewitness said: “I was on the Jet2 flight from Burgas in Bulgaria to Edinburgh on Saturday.

“A male passenger lost the plot with a stewardess and was close to assaulting her.

“He followed her to the front of the plane where he used abusive, vulgar language and showed aggressive actions towards her.

“He shouted: ‘What are you going to do, what are you going to do up here?’"

The eyewitness continued: “His actions were visibly noted by many passengers. The stewardess backed away from him and said repeatedly that she would not tolerate his abusive action. He raised his fists several times and took steps towards her.

“When the stewardess backed off, he headed swiftly to the toilet where he stayed for over 10 minutes.

“The stewardess was tearful and spent time in the pilot’s cabin. I am not sure if the idiot damaged or messed the toilet but the stewardess spent several minutes cleaning it after he vacated it.

“On arrival in Edinburgh, we were told to stay seated, when four police officers boarded and arrested the man. The man was taken of the plane to a full round of applause. Jet2 staff were professional throughout this scary ordeal and cannot be praised enough.

“Zero tolerance has to be taken with this type of behaviour to hopefully prevent other idiots doing likewise in the future.”

A Jet2 spokeswoman said: “Jet2.com takes immense care and pride in the training of its staff. In all situations our teams do their best to be calm and professional, ensuring that a minority of disruptive passengers do not spoil the holidays of those other travellers on board.

“We endeavour to be a family friendly airline at all times.”

A spokesman for Edinburgh Airport said: “Police were asked to attend an incident involving a passenger on an inbound flight from Bulgaria and resolved the issue onboard.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "A 37-year-old man was given a Recorded Police Warning following a report of abusive behaviour on-board an inbound flight at Edinburgh Airport on Saturday 25 May 2019."
