Jet2 issues urgent warning to every holidaymaker

Jet2 has issued an "urgent customer notice" to every holidaymaker.

The airline warned travellers about a new scam targeting people who have flights booked with them.

Jet2 posted on its official Twitter account to urge people to be cautious after customers reported being contacted by a fake account.

It said: "We have been made aware of several customers receiving messages advising to contact @jet2helps.com (and/or similar) to discuss bookings & queries.

"These accounts are NOT affiliated to us, so please DO NOT give personal information/data to them.

"The only official account for http://Jet2.com and Jet2holidays on Twitter is @jet2tweets which is a verified ‘blue tick’ account."

Jet2 was forced to issue a similar scam warning last month when customers reported they had been contacted by a fake account.

The company also revealed they had received a spike in bookings following the easing of travel restrictions earlier this month.

Steve Heapy, chief executive of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said bookings had spiked "by more than 250%".

He said Turkey is proving "exceptionally popular", adding: "Thanks to the certainty that yesterday's announcement has given customers, destinations right across the board are selling well, whether it's for late summer sun, winter or next summer.
