Jet2 issues 'urgent customer notice' to holidaymakers with flights booked

Jet2 has issued an 'urgent customer notice' over a new scam targeting holidaymakers.

The budget airline sent out an alert on social media this week after receiving worrying reports of fake accounts contacting passengers about their bookings.

Posting on Jet2's official Twitter, the operator warned customers not to share personal details with any unverified accounts without the 'blue tick'.

Jet2 wrote: "URGENT CUSTOMER NOTICE. We have been made aware of several customers receiving messages advising to contact @jet2helps.com (and/or similar) to discuss bookings & queries.

"These accounts are NOT affiliated to us, so please DO NOT give personal information/data to them (1/2).

Jet2 has issued an 'urgent customer notice' over a new scam (SWNS)

"The only official account for http://Jet2.com and Jet2holidays on Twitter is @jet2tweets which is a verified ‘blue tick’ account."

It comes after Jet2 was forced to issue a scam warning last month after scammers tried to target eager holidaymakers desperate to book a holiday when rules relaxed.

Following the latest easing of international travel restrictions, bookings were up by 300% at some firms from October 4.

Jet2.com restarted flights to Turkey this month and said: “Bookings have gone through the roof – up 250 to 300% in 24 hours.”

The UK's traffic light system was scrapped and the amber list was removed, leaving a simple 'red list' and 'all other countries'.

The red list has now been slimmed down to just seven countries, meaning more people can book a holiday abroad for half-term.
