Jet2 Glasgow flight to Lanzarote diverted to Manchester to 'service toilet'

A Jet2 flight from Glasgow  to Lanzarote was diverted to Manchester yesterday to 'service a toilet'.

Holidaymakers heading to the Canary Island had to turn back just south of Ireland after their was a problem with one of the toilets onboard the aircraft.

After setting off at 3.41pm on Sunday, the pilot announced they would be making an unexpected landing in Manchester.

Travellers were then boarded onto a replacement aeroplane, before being jetting off to the tourist hotspot for the second time.

The flight was scheduled to arrive at Lanzarote Airport at around 8.15pm, however the toilet drama delayed holidaymakers by around three and half hours.

Graham Ruthven, who was onboard the flight, tweeted: "Good start to our holiday. Arrived just before 12, but here now."

A spokesperson said: “In order to ensure the comfort of our customers, flight LS167 was diverted en-route to Lanzarote on Sunday, August 4 to Manchester Airport, to allow technicians to service its toilet facilities.

"The aircraft landed safely and customers departed to Lanzarote on a replacement aircraft.

"We would like to apologise to customers for the delay to the start of their holiday.”
