Jet2 flights to Spain from Edinburgh 'cheaper' than train to Glasgow as prices dropped

Jet2 flights have slashed their prices as travel becomes easier and cheaper for Scots.

Pre-departure tests have been scrapped for those flying into the UK and lateral flow tests are now accepted for fully vaccinated jet setters for their day two test.

The strict testing requirements were previously criticised by airline bosses who argued the amount of PCR tests needed turned people off travelling as it was too costly.

Now as travel has been made easier, and other countries are starting to ease their restrictions for UK visitors, Jet2.com have put their flights on sale.

And some flights are cheaper than an 'Anytime Return' train ticket from Edinburgh to Glasgow, which costs £30.

Scots can fly off from Edinburgh Airport to Spain's Alicante or Malaga for just £27 with Jet2.com

However, those tempting prices is only one way, with the return flight in January ranging from £31-37.

And of course as with many airlines, check in bags and seat do cost extra.

Luckily, with Jet2 hand luggage, including a cabin bag no larger than 56cm x 45cm x 25cm is included, as well as a small handbag.

If you want to check in a larger bag, they have a 22kg bag allowance with a charge of £35 each way.

So these prices will quickly add up and something to keep in mind when you spot flight deals.

Entry requirements for Spain

  • Open for anyone aged 12 and over if they are fully vaccinated.
  • Show proof of vaccination.
  • Fill out a Health Control Form ' (also called FCS).
  • Those who aren't vaccinated can enter with "duly accredited imperative family reasons" or "force majeure" which allow a negative PCR test and a possible period of self-isolation upon arrival to suffice though.
  • Face masks must be worn outside, unless exercising alone, and in public indoor spaces.
  • Social distancing of 1.5 metres must be adhered to.
  • Tourists are strongly advised to check the specific region they are visiting to be aware of any other rules and curfews that may be enforced.
