Jet2 flight to Gran Canaria forced to land at Manchester Airport due to 'disruptive passenger'

A Jet2 flight to Gran Canaria was forced to land at Manchester Airport following an onboard incident involving a 'disruptive passenger'.

The Sunday afternoon flight from Belfast International to Las Palmas was diverted to Manchester after an incident which took place after the plane had taken off, BelfastLive reports.

A spokesperson for the airline said: "Flight LS371 from Belfast International to Gran Canariahas diverted to Manchester because of disruptive passenger behaviour.

"We apologise to customers for any inconvenience caused, however as a family friendly airline we will not tolerate such behaviour. We will have customers on their way as soon as possible. "

The flight had been due to arrive in Gran Canaria 2.15pm but the estimated time of arrival is now 8.42pm..

In an update on their website the airline Jet2 added: "Due to an incident on-board involving a disruptive passenger,flight LS371 Belfast to Gran Canaria (Las Palmas) has been diverted to Manchester Airport.

"This is an unscheduled change, so we're doing everything we can to minimise any disruption to your onward journey. Thanks in advance for your understanding and patience during this time - we'll have you on your way as quickly as we can."

The flight departed Manchester at 4pm.
