Jet2 flight to Edinburgh declares mid-air emergency after passenger falls ill

A plane flying in to Edinburgh declared a mid-air emergency after a passenger fell ill on board.

One passenger on the Jet2 flight from Malaga required medical attention, prompting the plane to land earlier than expected.

Flight LS858 touched down on the tarmac shortly after 2pm. It had broadcast an emergency code as it flew to the airport over Scotland.

The severity of the passenger's medical condition has not been revealed.

A spokesperson said: “Flight LS858 from Malaga to Edinburgh declared an emergency due to a customer requiring medical attention.

"The flight crew followed standard procedure and the flight landed safely into Edinburgh as planned.”
