Jet2 extends Covid suspension of flights and holidays until middle of April

Airline and tour operator Jet2 has extended its suspension on flights and holidays.

It had originally planned to resume travel on March 25 after a break because of Covid travel restrictions - but all trips have been postponed until at least the middle of April.

It means the firm will not be operating flights and holidays for the lucrative Easter period and blamed the continued uncertainty over coronavirus travel measures for the block.

Customers with bookings that have been cancelled will be refunded or have the option to change their arrangements. For those with bookings from April 15 will be given further updates once details become clearer.

A spokesperson for Jet2 and Jet2holidays said “Due to the ongoing uncertainty and travel restrictions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, we have taken the decision to extend the suspension of flights and holidays up to and including April 14, 2021.

“Where customers yet to travel are affected by any programme changes, we will automatically cancel their booking with a full refund. We have received praise for our industry-leading and prompt refunding of over £1billion to customers whose travel plans have been affected by programme changes during the pandemic.

“We know that customers will remember this approach, and the way we have looked after them will play an important part in our long-term strategy to continue to grow successfully and become the UK’s leading and best leisure travel business.

“For customers due to travel from April 15 onwards, we will provide further updates closer to the time as appropriate.

“There is huge pent-up demand for our flights and holidays. Our customers work hard and save hard for their holidays, and we are very excited to take them away on holiday again.

"We would like to thank our valued customers for their patience and understanding.”
