Jet2 demand in Scotland surges following easing of travel restrictions

Tour operator Jet2holidays and airline Jet2.com have both reported a surge of bookings in Scotland following the easing of travel restrictions in the country.

Earlier this week, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon announced that pre-departure testing would no longer be required - nor would PCR tests upon arrival for those fully vaccinated.

Since then, Jet2 has seen bookings surge by 150%, with the demand returning to levels seen before the pandemic.

Destinations that have been particularly popular among Scots since the easing of restrictions include Spain, the Canaries, the Balearic Islands, Turkey, and Greece.

To celebrate, Jet2.com and Jet2holidays have launched a flash sale giving Scottish customers huge savings on flights and holidays for Winter 21/22, Summer 22, Winter 22/23, and Summer 23.

Jet2holidays is offering £50 off per person on all package holidays booked through Jet2holidays, while Jet2.com is offering 10% off all flights.

CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays Steve Heapy said: “The relaxation of travel restrictions is welcome news for both the travel industry and Scottish holidaymakers and comes during what is traditionally a very busy period for holiday bookings.

"We have seen an immediate and dramatic spike in bookings, with volumes since the Government announcement heading towards pre-pandemic levels, which demonstrates just how much demand is out there amongst people in Scotland wanting to get away for a much-needed holiday."

He added: “To ensure everyone gets that holiday they deserve, we have launched a fantastic sale giving huge savings on all flights and holidays and we know it will be incredibly popular.

"We were already heading into the New Year with a strong feeling of positivity and confidence, and the removal of these restrictions really gets 2022 off to a great start.”
