Jet2 cancels more Scots holidays to the Canary Islands due to coronavirus restrictions

Jet2 has cancelled more holidays to the Canary Islands as Scots holidaymakers continue to be advised not to travel to Spain.

The budget airline announced all flights and holidays to the islands from now until October 31 have been impacted.

This means that destinations such as Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote are off the cards for Jet2 customers during this period.

Jet2 has cited “current government travel advice” as the reason for its decision as Spain remains on the Scottish Government’s quarantine list.

Anyone arriving in Scotland from Spain will have to self-isolate for 14 days under the rules.

Scots impacted by the cancellations will automatically receive a full refund.

The firm will offer rebooking incentives to customers affected by the cancellations.

Anyone looking for a Jet2 package holiday in October and November will be offered £100 off their rebooking.

Flight-only customers impacted will receive 10 per cent off departures within the same months.

A decision is yet to be made on flights that are scheduled to head to the Canary Islands from November 1.

A spokesperson for Jet2 said: “Due to the current government travel advice, we have taken the decision to extend the suspension of flights and holidays to the Canary Islands up to and including October 31.

“Where customers are affected by any programme changes, we have been repeatedly recognised for how we have been looking after them and we will be automatically cancelling affected bookings with a full refund.”

The firm added: “We would like to remind affected customers that they do not need to contact us, as we will be in touch, and to thank them for their continued patience and understanding.”
