Jet2 cancels flights from Scotland to Spain and other countries left off the no quarantine list

Jet2 has cancelled all flights for the coming weeks from Scotland to Spain following the Scottish Government's announcement about quarantine rules for overseas travellers.

The airline has cancelled all flights from Glasgow Airport and Edinburgh Airport to Mainland Spain, the Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands until July 25, with flights to Cyprus, Portugal and Madeira from UK airports also cancelled until August 1.

Jet2 has however confirmed plans to resume flights and holidays to other popular holiday destinations from Scotland on Wednesday of next week (July 15).

As a result of adjusting their operations in the wake of the coronavirus crisis, Jet2 will also no longer fly to Barcelona Reus or Girona Airport until the summer of 2021.

A spokesperson for Jet2 said: “Our customers have been eagerly awaiting clarity about where they can travel to and from Scotland for some time, and based on the demand we are experiencing it is clear that they are ready for their much-needed and well-deserved holidays.

“Because of the travel restrictions that are still in place to Spain as a result of this week’s announcement by the Scottish government, we have taken the decision to recommence our flights and holidays programmes from Edinburgh and Glasgow Airports to Mainland Spain, the Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands on 25 July 2020.

“Where customers are affected by changes as a result of this, Jet2.com and Jet2holidays has been repeatedly recognised by media, industry commentators and customers for how we have been looking after customers throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.

"We can assure customers that they will continue to receive this same level of VIP service, and will be offered a Refund Credit Note, a full cash refund, or the option to rebook with no admin fee if their flight or holiday is cancelled.

“We plan to resume our flights and holidays to other popular hotspots from Scotland on 15 July, and we will be announcing more details soon.

"As well as taking customers away for their well-deserved holidays and delivering an award-winning service, we are using our industry-leading customer service to look after customers through every step of their holiday and ensure that everyone’s comfort, safety and well-being is the number one priority.

"Everything from onboard cleaning to in-resort care is in line with official Covid-19 guidelines, and we will only travel to the safest destinations, where our teams and hotel partners are ensuring everything is in place for a healthy and happy holiday.”
