Jet2 cancels flights and holidays to Cyprus due to the country's strict entry restrictions

Holidaymakers have been dealt another blow by Jet2 after the airline has cancelled flights to two more destinations.

The budget airline has cancelled its flights and holidays programme to Cyprus.

All services to Larnaca and Paphos have been suspended up to and including August 16.

Jet2 have said 'prohibitive entry restrictions' into the country have forced them to cancel the flights.

Travellers from Britain were banned from Cyprus since the country reopened its borders in July due to the level of infections and deaths related to coronavirus in the UK.

From August 1, the Republic of Cyprus government has stated that the UK will move to Category B which means anyone travelling to the country would be able to visit providing they follow strict requirements

The measures Scots would have to face include providing a negative PCR test on arrival, obtained within 72 hours before travel.

Coronavirus-test results can be in the form of an email or SMS but must include the date and time when the test was taken and state the type of test, which should be PCR.

All travellers to Cyprus must also complete a Cyprus Flight Pass before travelling which has the CR test result uploaded within 24 hours of departure.

They will then need to present this prior to boarding and on arrival at immigration, reports Chronicle Live.

Jet2 issued a statement saying: "Because of prohibitive entry restrictions into Cyprus, we have no choice but to suspend our flights and holidays programme to Larnaca and Paphos up to and including August 16.

"We urge Cypriot authorities to review the entry criteria in line with other destinations, so that our customers can enjoy their well-deserved holidays."

Affected customers will be given the option to rebook with no admin fee, a Refund Credit Note or a full cash refund.
