Jet2 cancels all flights to Canary Islands as travel restrictions continue

Holidaymakers hoping to head to the Canary Islands with Jet2 are set to be disappointed as the airline has cancelled all flights there for the rest of the month.

Flights to Tenerife, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria will not go ahead until at least November 1.

Flights to the four islands were also cancelled through September, as government travel restrictions continue - reports Leeds Live.

In a statement, Jet2 said: "Due to the current government travel advice, we have taken the decision to extend the suspension of flights and holidays to the Canary Islands (Tenerife, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria) up to and including October 31st.

"Where customers are affected by any programme changes, we have been repeatedly recognised for how we have been looking after them and we will be automatically cancelling affected bookings with a full refund."

And Jet2 are offering incentives to those who had previously booked with them, to book once again should they wish to fly in October and November.

The statement continues: "We know how much customers want to get away for their much-needed holidays, so we are offering £100 on their next holiday booking for package holiday customers who wish to rebook for departures in October and November. We are also offering 10% off bookings for flight-only customers who wish to rebook for departures in October and November.

"For bookings due to travel to the Canary Islands from 1st November onwards, we will provide an additional update once we receive further update from the government.

"We would like to remind affected customers that they do not need to contact us, as we will be in touch, and to thank them for their continued patience and understanding."
