Jet2 apologises after flight to Newcastle was delayed for 17 HOURS

A Jet2 flight to Newcastle International Airport has been delayed for 17 HOURS due to a "minor fault indication".

The flight from Spanish island Fuerteventura was scheduled to land on Tyneside at 2.45am on Thursday.

But the "minor fault" required a replacement aircraft, and the LS522 service is now provisionally scheduled to arrive in the North East at 7.45pm.

Jet2 has apologised to customers for the significant delay, and confirmed passengers were provided with overnight accommodation and complimentary meals as a result.

A spokesperson said: “Flight LS522 from Fuerteventura to Newcastle was delayed due to a minor fault indication.

"All customers were provided with overnight accommodation and complimentary meals, and a replacement aircraft has been arranged which is due to depart later today.

"We would like to apologise to customers for the delay to their journey, however the safety and wellbeing of our customers is always our number one priority.”
