Jet2 adds Leeds Bradford Airport flights to Greece ahead of summer holiday rush

Despite government warnings that it is still too early to start thinking about holidays this summer, Jet2 has added extra flights to some of its most popular destinations.

England’s Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Jonathan Van-Tam, recently said that people would be "stepping into the unknown" if they decided to book flights abroad for the coming months with Covid-19 still rife.

However, a number of holiday operators have encouraged customers to think positively, pointing towards England's success so far with the vaccination programme.

Leeds-based airline Jet2 is the latest to advertise additional flights abroad, with extra planes now added to four popular European destinations from Leeds Bradford Airport.

Jet2 have extended flights to Zante through to October 2021, with even more hotels and resorts on sale on the Greek island than ever before.

Flights to Rhodes will now continue through to mid-November, while people can continue flying to Heraklion, Crete, until November 8.

Sun-seekers wanting to jet off to Kefalonia can also do so until mid-October.

Crucially, Jet2 bosses have reminded all customers that their holidays will be refunded if their trip is affected by travel restrictions.

Steve Heapy, chief executive of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays said: “There continues to be enormous pent-up demand from local holidaymakers, who want nothing more than to get away to the sunshine and enjoy their well-deserved holidays.

"As always, we listen to what customers want and react accordingly, so that we can provide them with the holiday choices that they want.

"Extending the summer season to Greece means we are doing exactly that; giving customers more opportunity to get away and enjoy a much-needed holiday."

The news comes just days after Leeds Bradford Airport was granted permission to build a brand new terminal at a cost of £150 million.

Set across three floors and built to the highest environmental standards, the new building is set to open to passengers in 2023.
