Jet setting pooch racks up more than 30,000 miles of luxury air travel

A jet setting pooch has spent the last two years enjoying a lavish lifestyle travelling on planes, yachts and ferries

From Florida to France, two-year-old Sharkie-Poo, Moët exploring the world with her owner, Vicki Melhuish, 52.

The globetrotting dog has visited iconic landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower and Versace's Mansion, Miami, and left her paw prints in over ten different cities including Monaco, Barcelona, St. Tropez, and Portofino.

From brunching in Portugal to swimming in the Spanish sea and enjoying Puppachinos in Paris, this V.I.Pooch travels in style, sporting a chic wardrobe of turtlenecks, sunglasses and raincoats worth more than £1,000.

Vicki, a retired yacht captain, has a huge passion for travelling with her family, husband Rafael, 52 and daughter, Sasha, 13, and absolutely loves being able to bring Moët along for the ride.

A lot of planning and extra expenses also go into Moët's travelling lifestyle, from flights, vet bills, and pet passports, to tapeworm tablets upon entering the UK which has cost Vicki close to a whopping £5,000 along the way.

So far Moët has embarked on 24 flights, and is looking forward to more holidays later this year.

Vicki, from Manchester, said: “Travelling has always been a huge part of my life, as I was a super yacht captain for over 22 years.

“We got Moët on the back end of the pandemic, as we had always wanted a dog to come along on our travels, and as a Shih tzu/Yorkie/Toy Poodle mix, she is the perfect size to fit comfortably in plane cabins with us.

“Not all dogs are big fans of flying, but Moët just loves it, and is always so eager to jump into her little travel case when she realises we’re about to jet off on another adventure.

“She’s a super social dog, so everyone is always really intrigued when they see her on a plane, or at the airports, and always ask to pet her, but usually she just sleeps throughout the whole journey.

“She’s very well-travelled for a two-year-old dog, we’ve travelled around Florida, the UK, the South of France, Paris Monaco, Italy, Calais, Lisbon, Madrid and Barcelona.

“Her favourite place was definitely walking down the river Seine in Paris, although she’s not a huge fan of jumping into water and going swimming.”

Travelling with a furry friend can sometimes have its problems, but Vicki always plans ahead to find the best dog friendly hotels and establishments.

Vicki adds: “Being from England myself, but currently living in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, I love going to visit my family whenever I can.

“However, England restricts flying directly into the country with animals in the cabin, so pets either need to go in cargo, or you have to get a ferry or go through the Euro Tunnel.

“So, whenever we want to go travelling through the UK, we always try and travel from somewhere in Europe, and get alternative transport to accommodate having Moët join us on our journey.

"There are a lot of steps involved in taking Moët to places, like health certificates that can cost anywhere between £100 - £250 and tapeworm tablets if we're coming back to the UK costs around £50, but she has a pet passport at the moment which means we can cut the cost of travelling with her quite a bit.

"Even though there are a lot of hoops to jump through, we still love taking her everywhere, and we always plan ahead.

"We found Barcelona and Manchester to be the most dog-friendly because you could even take your dog bowling - she doesn't stop us from doing anything.

"Whilst travelling we love to dine out and places can be very accommodating, offering items from their kitchen unseasoned or even full dog menus.”

Vicki and her family have travelled to a range of climates, with Moët braving each and everyone.

She said: “Moët just loves the adventure and has loved everything from snow to hills and mountains.

“She’s a huge fan of hikes, but when she gets tired, she’ll be carried in a backpack by Sasha.

“We also carry her in her backpack in non-dog friendly areas and places we come across, both Sasha and Moët really enjoy backpack time.

“In Lisbon, Portugal we were on the electric scooters and she had the best time riding on Sasha's shoulders in the backpack.

“As well as walking Moët loves rolling around in mud and getting dirty, but when it comes to colder climates, she isn’t the biggest fan unless she’s decked out in a jumper and booties.”

Since embarking on her travels, and donning some fashionable clothing, Moët has racked up more than 12,000 followers on her Instagram @FUNKYMOET.

Vicki said: “Everyone just loves Moët and they’re always curious as to where she’s heading next.

“Our family and friends love her and think it’s excellent that we’re able to travel the world with her.

“She’s got many fans!

"We try and document her visiting every city on our travels, from Milan to Strasbourg, London to the Cannes."

Moet has travelled to a vast expanse of locations, and is looking forward to more trips in the future.
