Jesy Nelson slams face-altering filters and urges fans to 'embrace' natural beauty

Jesy Nelson has slammed Instagram’s endless face-altering filters.

The former Little Mix singer, 29, took to her stories on Tuesday evening to encourage her loyal fanbase to embrace their natural looks amid society’s impossible beauty standards.

The Shout Out To My Ex hitmaker admitted that while she enjoys playing around with filters, she can’t help but feel uncomfortable due to the fact that most filters completely alter her natural appearance – giving her an impossibly tiny nose and huge lips.

“So, I have been going through my filters on my phone,” the brunette beauty explained.

“And I won’t lie – I love a little Instagram filter that makes you a bit more tanned and makes your skin a little bit fresher.

“But every filter that I’ve been on, makes my nose tiny and skinny and makes my lips huge.

“As well as that, they make your eyes a different colour, or really big.”

She went on: “Does every filter change your nose? I really don’t understand this, because, for me, your nose is the most prominent point of your face.

“I feel like noses are literally what makes you, you. And I don’t understand why Instagram feels the need to squash your nose and make it really skinny. Why do the people who make these filters think that that’s what beauty is?”

“I just think it’s bloody weird,” she added.

Jesy finished off her motivational rant by encouraging her 7.9 million followers to embrace their natural noses and the looks that they were blessed with.

It comes after the singer has reportedly rekindled her romance with ex-boyfriend Sean Sagar.

The pair are said to have endured a brief split when lockdown made their budding romance difficult to maintain.

They had been together for eight months before it became ‘too much’.

Now, it’s been reported that Jesy has moved the Our Girl star into her Essex home so they can spend the rest of the third lockdown together.

A source told The Sun : "It was all a bit silly really. They had a lovers’ tiff but they’re back together now.

"Sean is being extra nice to her and comforting her because right now she needs a lot of support.

"They thought it would be better that they could spend lockdown together so he is staying with her."

The pair started dating last April after Jesy split from Love Island's Chris Hughes.
