Jesy Nelson 'set to anger Little Mix' with 'rip-off' first solo single

Little Mix fans were devastated in December last year when band member Jesy Nelson quit to focus on her mental health.

Fellow bandmates, Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall, were all very supportive of her decision and the quartet vowed to stay close.

However, fast forward eight months and the former bandmates appear to be at breaking point - and Jesy's latest release isn't going to do much to change that.

The 30-year-old is set to release her debut solo material and teased a snippet of it on her Instagram earlier in the week.

She commented on the post: "For me, this is the music I’ve always wanted to make.

"I don’t think that anyone is going to expect this. This is the new chapter for me.

“If you genuinely believe something enough and you want it to happen, you can make it happen.”

But insiders are predicting there will be a frosty reaction from the remaining girls who rarely speak to their former pal.

Despite Jesy insisting it's a "new" her, sources predict that the nature of her comeback is set to be the cause of frustration for her ex-bandmates.

A source told The Sun : "Things have got progressively more strained, but seeing her return with a song and an image that could have been taken straight from the Little Mix playbook is going to be very divisive."

The source continued: "Jesy’s new video shoot could have been a Little Mix single, it’s packed with choreography and the style is very similar too.

“Her new label wanted to strike while the iron is hot, but the other girls are just going to wonder why on earth she had to quit the band if she was going to come back a matter of months later with a style that looks almost identical."

And the source claimed that the remaining band members are likely to view the fact that the music was recorded months ago as Jesy "putting two fingers up at them".

At the time of her departure, Jesy released a statement saying that being in the band was affecting her mental health.

She said: "I find the constant pressure of being in a girl group and living up to expectations very hard," before adding that she was leaving "with a heavy heart". She claimed that she was going to "embark on a new chapter".

Another source admitted that the band believes Jesy is moving on quicker than they'd have thought and said this is pushing the girls to work harder than ever.

The source added: "It’s fair to say there’s not a lot of love lost between them all any more. The Little Mix girls feel pretty disappointed about the way things have gone, but Jesy is making it clear she’s going it alone."
