Jesy Nelson praises her independence after breaking down in tears over Little Mix 'feud'

Jesy Nelson has confessed that she feels 'empowered' to be on her own in her solo career after breaking down in tears over her rumoured feud with Little Mix.

The former Little Mix singer, who left the girl band in 2021 after a successful ten year stint, appeared on This Morning alongside Phillip Schofield and Rochelle Humes to discuss why her new single, Bad Thing, is of so much importance to her.

The singer, 31, worked with Women's Aid on the video of her much-anticipated new music video as she wanted to raise awareness for domestic abuse.

Discussing her solo career in the studio with Phillip and Rochelle, Jesy said that being on her own has 'empowered' her and pushed her to better herself and move out of her comfort zone after almost a decade being with Little Mix bandmates, Perrie Edwards, Jade Thirlwall, and Leigh-Anne Pinnock.

"It's given me a real sense of independence and control which I love. I feel really empowered and realised that I don't need big record labels to put out my own music," Jesy shared.

It comes after Jesy took to Instagram on Tuesday night to discuss her recent interview with The Sun where she said she hasn't spoken to her former band mates in two years.

Jesy broke down in tears as she claimed the interview was 'taken out of context' and was more focused on her leaving the group and their so-called feud.

The singer had told The Sun that she hasn't spoken to the trio – whom she won The X Factor alongside in 2011 – since quitting the band two years ago.

"So no, we haven’t talked since then. Never say never, but I honestly wish them the best on their solo journeys now, which is so exciting.

"I think that is what is so exciting about all of us. We are all musically different styles. I think we will all go in our own lane."

Jesy announced her decision to quit in a shock statement and, while the remaining members publicly shared support for her decision, she's now revealed she hasn't spoken to them since.

Discussing her decision to leave, Jesy revealed she had no "regrets" and said she'll "always cherish the memories" made during her time in the pop group.
