Jesy Nelson 'nearly cries' in studio as Little Mix make history at Brit Awards

Jesy Nelson has shared a sneak preview of her new music, on the same day Little Mix made history at the Brit Awards.

The event last night saw Little Mix become the first female group ever to win the best British group prize.

During their speech, the group, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jade Thirlwall and Perrie Edwards, thanked former bandmate Jesy Nelson, who quit in December after saying the high-profile role had "taken a toll" on her mental health.

Leigh-Anne said: “We have been together for ten years, we have been through so much, we have had so much fun."

Jesy quit the girl band in December.

At the time, Jesy shared a lengthy statement to Instagram and said: "The past nine years in Little Mix has been then most incredible time of my life.

"The truth is recently being in the band has really taken a toll on my mental health.

"I find the constant pressure of being in a girl group and living up to expectations very hard."

The news led to an outpouring of support from Little Mix fans despite being heartbroken at the news.

And Jesy later returned to social media to thank her followers for their support

She wrote: "I just want to say thank you so much to everyone of you that has shown me so much love and support over the past few days some of your messages have made me feel so emotional and I appreciate it so much.

"Love you all."

The 29-year-old has been back in the studio - or as she calls it her "happy place" - in recent weeks, and has teased fans she could be releasing solo material.

In mid-February, Jesy posted a snap saying "let's go" along with music emojis and later that day posted an Instagram story from a recording studio.

Her story yesterday showed the studio setup with the caption "I nearly just cried at the song we've wrote today wosixjxkakamzossl that's how excited I am for you guys to hear this" [sic] with a pleading face emoji and three hidden face monkey emojis.

She also shared a photo from Little Mix's Brit win with heart and clapping emojis.

Perrie and Leigh-Anne have in the past two weeks both confirmed they are expecting their first children, with pregnancy announcements within days of one another on social media.
