Jesy Nelson 'dumped Chris Hughes over the phone' after 18 months together

Jesy Nelson dumped Chris Hughes over the phone, putting an end to their 18-month relationship, it's claimed.

The Little Mix singer, 28, reportedly rang Love Island star Chris, 27, last week to break the news as she thought their relationship had "run its course".

Rumours of their split first started on Thursday, with reports claiming that things ended on good terms between them.

The pair are currently isolating in separate homes amid the coronavirus lockdown.

A source close to the former couple told the MailOnline : "She split up with him last week in a phone call, as she thought the relationship had run its course.

"There are no hard feelings.

"Jesy said he was surprisingly fine about it and thinks she will stay friends with him."

Mirror Online has contacted reps for the couple for comment.

Neither Chris or Jesy have commented on the rumours on social media.

They have been separated by the coronavirus lockdown as the government has advised the public to stay indoors.

Couples who live apart have been advised to either move in together or keep their distance to avoid spreading the deadly bug.

Speaking about their separation, Jesy recently told Australian newspaper The Sunday Telegraph : "Chris isn't with me right now because he is in isolation with his flatmate, so I haven't seen him for a while."

"My love life is fine and dandy," she added.

Jesy and Chris got together in January 2018 when they were first pictured enjoying a kiss in a kebab shop.

They had both spoken about marriage, with Jesy referring to Chris as her "future husband".
