Jesus Vallejo joins Wolves on loan from Real Madrid

Real Madrid defender Jesus Vallejo has joined Wolves on loan for the 2019-20 season.

The centre-back, who was part of the Spain side which won the Under-21 European Championship earlier this summer, has also signed a new long-term contract with the Spanish side.

"Real Madrid C. F. and Wolverhampton Wanderers FC have reached an agreement over the loan of Jesus Vallejo for the forthcoming season in a deal running until 30 June 2020," Los Blancos said on their website on Saturday.

Vallejo took to Twitter to reveal he had renewed his deal with Madrid. "Hello Madridistas," he wrote. "I am very happy to have extended my link with Real Madrid. After a lot of hard work and sacrifice, this moment of joy has finally arrived."

And in a follow-up tweet in which he is seen kitted out in Wolves colours, he added: "I'm very happy. Thank you so much to Wolves for this opportunity and to the fans for this warm welcome. I'm looking forward to training and playing with my team-mates."

The 22-year-old, who has also had spells at Real Zaragoza and Eintracht Frankfurt, has had a nightmare with injuries over the past two seasons, making just 12 appearances for Los Blancos in that time.
