Jesus travels, Tierney boost, forgotten man: Three things spotted in Arsenal pre-season training

Arsenal's first-team squad have arrived in Germany as their pre-season tour gets underway.

Mikel Arteta's side struggled towards the end of their 2021/22 campaign, finishing fifth in the Premier League as local rivals Tottenham Hotspur pipped them to a spot in next season's UEFA Champions League. Since then, the Gunners have decided to act quickly in the transfer market, signing American goalkeeper Matt Turner, Portuguese midfielder Fabio Vieira and Brazilian duo Marquinhos and Gabriel Jesus.

Now, the north London outfit have arrived in Germany ahead of their clash against Nurnberg at the Max-Morlock-Stadion on Friday. Below, football.london takes a look at some pictures from their training camp as Arteta puts his squad with their paces.

Jesus spotted

Brazilian international Jesus was seen with the rest of Arsenal's first-team squad less than 48 hours after the talented striker's £45million transfer from Manchester City was officially confirmed. The former Palmeiras frontman netted 13 goals and provided a further 12 assists across all competitions last term and Arteta will be hoping that his new star man can do even better for the north Londoners.

Jesus was seen cycling as he was put through his paces by Arteta and his coaching staff ahead of Friday's match.

Tierney back in training

The Gunners struggled down the left flank when Scottish left-back Kieran Tierney got injured towards the back end of last season. His attacking prowess and sublime crossing delivery was greatly missed, with replacement Nuno Tavares struggling.

However, the former Celtic man is now back in full training with the rest of the Arsenal squad, a huge boost for Arteta ahead of next season.

Runarsson in goalkeeper training

Arsenal's goalkeeper were also pictured, with German international Bernd Leno, who has been heavily linked with Fulham, seen alongside new addition Turner. The latter, who has joined from MLS side New England Revolution this summer, was also joined by forgotten man Runar Alex Runarsson.

The Icelandic shot-stopper spent last season on loan at Belgian outfit OH Leuven and is widely expected to leave the Emirates Stadium this term.
