Jesus Corona to Chelsea: Porto star's agent confirms talks over summer transfer

The agent of Porto star Jesus Corona has revealed talks have taken place concerning a move to Chelsea - but hinted there are other clubs in the race for his client.

The Mexico international, 27, has been strongly linked with the Blues in recent days as Frank Lampard looks to add to his squad in the summer.

Corona is primarily an attacking winger but has impressed in a wing-back role for the Portuguese giants this season with seven assists in 24 appearances.

The player's representative, Matias Bunge, revealed there has been interest from Chelsea's side and confirmed the club had been in discussions over a potential move but suggested the move could be impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.

“At some point we talked to them [Chelsea]," Bunge told Mexican outlet Medio Tiempo.

"I cannot say if he’s option A, B or C, now they are rather rumours.

“We’ll have to wait a bit for this to continue moving forward and for the leagues to begin again, and from there see what the next movements will be because the market is a little bit stopped.

“He has two years left on his contract. He did awaken a lot of interest for his participation in this particular tournament [Primeira Liga], which has been outstanding and at a high level.

"But now with the current situation of the virus everything has slowed down a bit, the signings are in quarantine.”
