Jesus and Sane recalled - Man City predicted team vs Crystal Palace in Premier League

After a two game break, Manchester City are back in Premier League action at Crystal Palace on Sunday.

City suffered a blow to their chances of winning a historic quadruple this week, as they trail 1-0 to Tottenham in the Champions League quarter-final, but they can take another big step in the league with a win at Selhurst Park.

With Liverpool hosting Chelsea directly after City play Palace, Pep Guardiola will know the importance of leapfrogging their title rivals if only for a couple of hours.

But with the second-leg against Spurs on Wednesday, Guardiola cannot simply field his strongest team to ensure the three points.

Instead, he must consider resting tired bodies after a difficult midweek game at Tottenham, while still fielding a side capable of beating a stubborn Palace outfit.

Guardiola's biggest selection decision will likely come upfront, with Sergio Aguero unconvincing at Spurs on his return from injury and Gabriel Jesus on a decent run of form. On his day, Aguero is City's better striking option, but it may be beneficial to rest him ahead of the Champions League second leg and bring back a confident Jesus.

Leroy Sane and Kevin de Bruyne were rested in the week, and although they would be backed for a start in the second leg, they can offer some much-needed energy to City's play. Likewise, Bernardo Silva was injured, but should return if fit.

Riyad Mahrez created more chances than any of his teammates this week, and with Raheem Sterling likely to be rested, it is an opportunity for the Algerian to show his worth in the Premier League. City will be hoping for a similar impact from the win at Bournemouth recently, where he scored the only goal.

Fernandinho's legs will likely be rested, so Ilkay Gundogan can fill the defensive midfield role supported by De Bruyne and Bernardo.

At the back, John Stones could get a recall after Nicolas Otamendi has played both of the last two games this week. Vincent Kompany may also be included to allow Aymeric Laporte a rest. Benjamin Mendy might get the nod at left-back ahead of Oleksandr Zinchenko simply by virtue of being a week ahead of the Ukrainian in his return from injury.

Predicted Man City starting XI vs Crystal Palace: Ederson; Walker, Stones, Laporte, Mendy; Gundogan, De Bruyne, Bernardo; Mahrez, Sane, Jesus.

Predicted subs: Muric, Danilo, Laporte, Fernandinho, Silva, Sterling, Aguero
