Jesurun Rak-Sakyi: Crystal Palace wrap up first Deadline Day deal as loan agreed after fierce race

Jesurun Rak-Sakyi is joining Stoke City on loan from Crystal Palace for the remainder of the season.

Standard Sport understands the move is a straight loan, with no option or obligation to buy.

The 23-year-old winger has found game time hard to come by at Palace in the last two seasons and the Eagles were prepared to sell him permanently this month, just as they were last summer.

He ended up joining Turkish Super Lig side Caykur Rizespor on a season-long loan in the summer, scoring four goals in 13 appearances during an impressive spell before being recalled early last month.

Millwall made a late attempt to sign him and there was a level of interest from French club Lille too, but Rak-Sakyi has now agreed to join Stoke for the remainder of the season.

Rak-Sakyi has not played for Crystal Palace since the 2023-24 campaign, when he made eight of his ten appearances for the Eagles’ first team.

The former England Under-21 youth international is a former Charlton Athletic player of the year and is under contract at Palace until the summer of 2027.

Palace are in the market for a centre-back on Deadline Day as they seek to bolster their options in that position since selling Marc Guehi to Manchester City last month for £20million plus significant bonuses.
