American actor Jessie Lawrence Ferguson has died at the age of 76, it's been confirmed.
The Boyz N Da Hood star, who appeared opposite Laurence Fishburne, Cuba Gooding Jr, and Regina King in the 1991 hit movie, appears to have died at home on Friday night.
His body was found inside his Californian house, his devastated son revealed.
Jace Ferguson told TMZ that he found his lifeless father next to his bed with his television still on.
Police sources told the site that Jessie's cause of death is delivered to be natural, and there are no suspicious circumstances - although Jace said his father seemed healthy and sprightly in the days before his death.
"He was a strong, beautiful intelligent black man and he wanted the best for his son and all people," Jace said in tribute.
Jessie had also starred in other big films, including The Chosen One, The Presidio and Prince of Darkness.
His death comes just days after Boyz N Da Hood director John Singleton was struck down by a massive stroke and remains in hospital.
