Jessie J' ex Channing Tatum had to put fatherhood and career before their romance

Fans were left flabbergasted last week by reports that iconic couple Jessie J , 31, and Channing Tatum , 39, had decided to go their separate ways.

It was said at the time that while "there wasn't any drama", the singer and Hollywood hunk had called time on their romance.

Now it's reported that the shock split "came at a good time" for them, and that they "made the most of it while it lasted."

A source told People that while the two were on good terms, Channing's career is being increasingly demanding.

They added that while he and Jessie enjoyed their time together, dad Channing's biggest priority would always be daughter Everly, six.

He is super busy with his career and as a dad" they said, "He has a world awaiting him and is trying to manage how busy he is which isn't easy."

The source continued: "He has a lot on his plate right now and wants to be the best dad possible which means he needs to be around when he isn't travelling for his own work."

Mirror Online has contacted representatives for both Channing and Jessie for comment.

Channing and Jessie had been dating for just over a year and even shacked up together in the UK countryside.

They found a spark just months after Channing announced his marriage to ex-wife Jenna Dewan was ending.

People confirmed the news of their split last week, with a different source claiming they'd split but it was amicable.

"There wasn't any drama," the source said at the time, "They just decided to part ways and are still good friends."

Another one said that their split life wasn't working for Channing - who often needed to be back in LA for Everly.

"Channing and Jessie have different priorities and focuses that don't really align," they dished, "They had a fun relationship, but it just didn't work out.

"Channing needs to be in LA a lot so he can spend time with Everly. Jessie prefers England. They are still friendly though."

A rumour that Channing's already looking to move on has been doing the rounds, with it said that he's put his name down for an exclusive celeb dating app out in LA.
