Jessica Simpson has revealed she has dyslexia.

The singer, actor, and reality TV star opened up about the learning disorder in an Instagram post celebrating the audiobook version of her memoir, Open Book.

Apple included the memoir, released in February this year, in its selection of this year’s best audiobooks. Simpson shared a screenshot of the post and thanked the company for “recognising and respecting my story”.

“Turning my fears into wisdom has been a soulful journey to say the least. I appreciate the power of this praise with all of my heart,” she wrote.

Simpson then added: “I’m dyslexic and this was the first time I have ever read out loud without hesitation. I did it for the listener. I did it for my family. I did it for myself.”

The presentation of dyslexia can vary from one person to the next, but the condition is tied to the areas of the brain involved with processing language.

People with dyslexia can have difficulty spelling and reading, including reading aloud.

Open Book was released to critical and commercial acclaim, topping the prestigious New York Times Bestsellers list in the Hardcover Nonfiction category.
