Jessica Jones season 3: David Tennant breaks silence on Netflix decision to cancel Marvel show

David Tennant has spoken out about Netflix's decision to cancel Jessica Jones

The show will conclude after season three, which is set to debut at some point this year. Tennant appeared as villain Kilgrave on the show, returning as a series of hallucinations in season two after his death at the end of the show's first outing.

Tennant told Entertainment Weekly: “I don’t really regard it as a cancellation so much as something having the life that it should have. Three seasons of that story is great. Rather than thinking of it as something that was cancelled, I think of it as something that had three seasons that will live in the memory.”

He also confirmed that he would not appear in the upcoming third season, either as a hallucination or otherwise.

Both Marvel's Jessica Jones and The Punisher were cancelled by Netflix in one fell swoop. “I love these people to the moon and back,” Krysten Ritter, who plays Jessica, wrote on Instagram, next to an image of the show's cast.

"It has been a dream to play Jessica alongside my amazing cast and the best crew in the business for these past five years. I am so grateful for every second of it. We have THE BEST fans. You guys mean the world to me and I appreciate you beyond words."

“The final season of Jessica Jones is coming later this year and I am proud of how we complete JJ’s journey. I can’t wait for you all to see it. Stay tuned and more to come.”
